There are 55 trailheads along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail’s 90+ miles. All but one (Portage Path Trailhead in Summit County) provide parking, making for easy access to the trail.

Parking is free at almost all locations and the number of spaces varies per site, ranging from a handful to 100-plus.

County Park Districts: There is no overnight parking. All cars must be out by the time the park closes.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park: The National Park is the only location where the Towpath is open 24-hours, and overnight parking is available at major trailheads, though car camping or regular camping is not allowed. Bicyclists take note the Towpath is not lit inside the park and helmet lights are required at night.
