In recognition of the truly collaborative spirit at work in the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the contributions of the many authors, photographers and local experts who are helping to bring our site to life and enriching it for all our visitors.

Lynn and Peg helped us build the Did You Know section of the site, bringing our Interpretive Themes to life in a fun and entertaining way.

While Lynn has since passed away - the contributions of both Lynn and Peg continue to enhance our history and Canalway experiences. Boone Triplett & Bill Oeters - Editors - Towpaths - Published by the Canal Society of Ohio

The primary mission of this group is the “preservation of the canals of Ohio and their history.” Recently, as part of their 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2011, a collection of articles were compiled from their members-only Towpaths publication. We’re happy the Society is allowing us to share some of the stories from this publication through the Did You Know section of our website.

In 2010, these two Stark County women joined together on their own personal Canalway trek. Jen Brumfield is a nationally recognized birder and illustrator as well as a Naturalist/Artist for Cleveland Metroparks, birding tour guide for Tropical Birding and rep with Nikon’s Birding Optics Prostaff team. Her local birding tour company, Local Patch Birding, offers specialty birding tours across the region. Jen eagerly combines her passions for extreme birding, field studies, outdoor education and detailed scientific illustration into a truly “wild” career.
