The Ohio & Erie Canalway Association funded the projects through its Strategic Initiative Program, a competitive grant program that funds organizations and political subdivisions that enhance the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area—which extends 110 miles from Cleveland to New Philadelphia, OH. 

A diverse array of organizations will receive funding to support the initiatives below.

• University Circle: Cozad-Bates House Community Education, $4,000

• Western Reserve Historical Society: Hale Farm and Village Pottery Kiln and Studio, $10,000

• Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition: Summit Lake North Shore Plan, $37,500 

• City of Akron: Downtown Wayfinding Signage, $25,000

• Peninsula Foundation: Historic GARS Hall ADA Addition, $25,000

• City of Canal Fulton: St. Helena II Restoration – Phase II, $15,000
